From the moment woman was created, God had a purpose and a plan for her. Her exact responsibility was to be man’s helper.  She wasn’t created to do her own thing, to lead the family, or to give her man the chance to be a stay-at-home dad.

Yet today, America puts the highest value on the woman who does it all.

Stay-at-home mothers are treated with pity and told, “Have you thought about getting a job? You don’t want to be in the house with the kids all day” (yes, that’s a real thing I’ve been told).

And women who choose to work are asked, “Haven’t you thought about staying home?”… “Haven’t you thought about having kids?”… “Don’t you feel bad for “leaving” your kids?”

If we listen to society’s suggestions, women will always be pulled in different directions. And it’s not limited to women—it’s true for men as well.

Modern society says men should treat women as equals, but still spoil them. Men are supposed to be chivalrous, respectful, and gentlemanly, but not sexist. They should be strong and make women feel beautiful, but they’re also supposed to get more in touch with their emotions and let go of their “toxic” masculinity.

If we want to live as fulfilling lives as possible, we need to tune out society’s suggestions and tap into the biblical principles of God’s design for men and women.

What if we listened to God exclusively to learn what our lives should look like? Think about it. What better source for the ultimate say on what a godly woman looks like than the God who created all things?

The best way we can learn what it’s like to be a godly woman is to turn to the Bible. We can glean wisdom by looking at the lives of the women who have walked before us.

Eve teaches us the weight of our influence.

Hagar reminds us that God sees us in our suffering.

Leah shows us how to seek approval from the Lord over man.

And many others continue to show us what it’s like to glorify God and be strong, spiritually-minded women.

I have a study resource that’s perfect for helping us dig into the lives of women in the Bible. It’s a digital download study guide that walks you through the lives of Eve, Hagar, Leah, Mary, Priscilla, and many more. You can find this resource in my shop by clicking right here.
