As the air turns crisp and the days grow short, home becomes more than where we live. It becomes our refuge. The chill outside nudges us to stay cozy and secure inside.
For many, the darker months can stir restlessness or gloom. But rather than letting the season shape our mood, we can choose to savor it.
Making home a place we love to be helps us gently shape the mood of the season. However, keep this in mind: coziness isn’t about excess. It’s about intentional, thoughtful touches that help you and your family feel safe inside your four walls.
A flickering candle, a favorite blanket, a simmer pot filled with cinnamon and orange—each small act says, you belong here.
If you’re currently missing that cozy feeling in your home, take a moment to declutter. Pack up unused items to donate, give your doors and walls a wash, and create space for a few refreshing items that will bring the cozy back.

Keep Comfortable with Soft Textures
Unwind with cozy pajamas, like my personal favorite nightgown or this beautiful 100% cotton robe.
Quality blankets, like this weighted throw, can be an investment. Choose a calming, neutral color for your blanket and bring in vibrancy with pillows or sheets.
My family loves bamboo bedsheets for their breathability and cooling touch.
Delightful Scents and Warm Glows
Wild Capri is my current favorite scent company. I especially love the collaborations with Eryn Carroll, a medical mom with a mission to donate her candle commissions to CDH research for those who suffer from the same condition as her little boy.
While I have one scented candle burning on the kitchen counter, I love to turn on countless battery-powered candles all over my home for extra warmth and soft glows! These pillar candles and these taper candles are favorites for me!
Slowing Down and Enjoying Indoors
I always have more time to read and study when we’re snowed in. Last winter, I enjoyed Ruth Chou Simons’ book Now and Not Yet. She also has a collection of beautifully illustrated Bible journals.
By the way, if you find you don’t have time or don’t enjoy sitting to read, Audible might be a great tool for you.
Colorful pens for Bible study or journaling are especially cheery during my inside time when it’s grey and dreary outside(For more Bible study supplies, see my comprehensive list here).
Clutter: the ultimate destroyer of cozy peace! Winter is a great time to reorganize since we’re stuck indoors and noticing more mess. If you’re not sure where to start, grab some baskets, clean up the clutter, and work your way through sorting one basket at a time.
