Do you desire to display the traits of a godly woman? To live faithfully rooted in Christ? You may wonder, what does it mean to be rooted in Christ? Or, what are the traits of a godly woman according to Scripture?

What Does it Mean to Be Rooted in God’s Word?

A woman rooted in Christ is actively growing her relationship with the Lord and the Bible’s wisdom shapes every aspect of her life. By focusing on biblical truth, she learns how to direct her heart, mind, and actions.

In this article, we’ll examine 11 Bible verses to build our traits around. Our verses are broken down into three categories: with the Lord, with her family, and with others.

Traits of a Godly Woman with the Lord

1. She Fears the Lord

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” —Proverbs 1:7 (ESV)

A woman of God understands that fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. She offers Him her respect.

2. She Walks by Faith, Not Fear

“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” —Proverbs 31:25 (ESV)

She is not afraid of an unknown future because she trusts the Lord to guide her paths.

3. She Trusts in God’s Provision

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:19 (ESV)

She trusts the Lord to supply everything she needs and does not seek her needs outside of Him.

4. She Renews Her Mind in God’s Word

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” —Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

Her path is bright because God’s word lights the way. She knows that dwelling on the Lord and His word will keep her moving closer to heaven.

5. She Prioritizes Prayers Over Anxiousness

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

She knows she can take any matter to the Lord in prayer. She presents her concerns at His throne and releases the burden of her anxieties to Him.

Traits of a Godly Woman with Her Family

6. She Respects and Honors Her Husband

“Let the wife see that she respects her husband.” —Ephesians 5:33 (ESV)

Her husband has her respect because she acknowledges it is a command from the Lord.

7. She Prioritizes Her Family

“She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” —Proverbs 31:27 (ESV)

Her household is her priority. She understands the importance of her family.

8. She Teaches and Trains the Next Generation

“They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children.” —Titus 2:3-4 (ESV)

Her wisdom blesses the next generation as she teaches younger women to live godly lives.

Traits of a Godly Woman with Others

9. She Shows Kindness

“She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.” —Proverbs 31:20 (ESV)

Her kindness and generosity is extended to others in less fortunate circumstances.

10. She Practices Generosity and Hospitality

“Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.” —1 Peter 4:9 (ESV)

She offers hospitality with an open heart and shares her blessings with others.

11. She Encourages and Uplifts Others

“Encourage one another and build one another up.” —1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)

Her words build others up, offering encouragement and support to those around her.

Cultivating these Traits

If we continue turning the Bible’s pages, we would certainly find more traits to add to our list. We may not be proficient in every single trait; I know I’m not! However, these verses point us in the right direction to grow.

When we focus on the Bible truths that teach us how to live, we’ll notice over time that we grow more and more as the days pass.

Is there a specific trait you think should be added to the list? Comment on this post and tell me what Bible verse and godly trait you’d add to the chain!
